Enterprise Storage Assessment Project

For a Federal Government Department with almost 9,000 employees, TeraMach assessed the storage requirements for the department's headquarters in Ottawa as well as 13 regional data centers across the country.  TeraMach analyzed business and technical requirements and provided storage assessment and architecture design services. 

In conjunction with the SAN Strategy and Data Center Recovery Options Analysis, TeraMach developed a high level enterprise storage architecture and a three year roadmap to provide direction on the technologies that are required to implement the storage solution specific for the client’s business and IT storage needs. 

The Enterprise Storage Assessment accomplished the following:

  • Established an enterprise storage architecture that would scale with the department's growing requirements
  • Consolidated storage for easier management and scalability
  • Allowed all groups within the client’s environment to leverage the enterprise storage architecture for data sharing and protection
  • Increased backup and restore efficiencies
  • Protection of existing infrastructure investment
  • Ensured quick and efficient recovery of client data
  • Ensured that security guidelines were maintained
  • Better utilized the Enterprise Storage Repository/Repositories for knowledge management activities.

The Result: 

The project provided a comprehensive enterprise storage plan to store, distribute and protect the corporate data within headquarters and the regions.
