Storage Management and Business Continuity Project

This Federal Government organization had asked TeraMach to participate and guide a Business Continuity Project.  As part of this engagement, TeraMach studied the client’s Novell file, print and storage consolidation requirements. The project included developing a business case and recommending a technical architecture to support business continuity between Headquarters and the DR site.

The Novell consolidation included upgrading the Novell software, and reducing the number of servers from 33 to 25. After conducting a series of interviews with principal stakeholders, TeraMach:

  • Identified business continuity criteria including recovery time and data currency
  • Prepared consolidated server and storage network architecture documentation
  • Developed technology roadmaps and high level implementation plans
  • Developed a business case to present to the client’s management team and the Business Continuity Project steering committee
  • Prepared business, technical, functional and user requirements for an optimized SAN/NAS solution
  • Developed the technical specifications and strategy for the RFP on the storage and enterprise backup procurement.

The Result:

The report formed the basis of an RFP document for enterprise storage and backup procurement.
