Virtualization has become one of the key IT strategies to save cost and increase operation efficiency. Virtualization goes beyond just partitioning servers using hardware or software. It abstracts and simplifies the complex IT infrastructure such that resources can be utilized more effectively. With well designed architecture and integrated technologies, our customers can build an end-to-end virtualization strategy which allows true dynamic IT for applications, desktop, servers and storage.
TeraMach provides solutions on application, desktop, server and storage virtualization that cut across the whole IT infrastructure. Our virtualization solutions focus on providing a common integration point and network to all these heterogeneous components within the data center. This means that virtualization decouples software not only from the physical infrastructure but also from the physical location, which allows our customers to focus on building more service-oriented infrastructures.
TeraMachs solutions combine best in class technologies and professional services to help customers develop virtualization strategy for both infrastructure and applications:
Virtualization Assessment - Virtualization can reduce operating cost and improve utilization. With the overwhelming number of technologies out there, customers are confused and discouraged. TeraMach provides a service to assess an organizations applications, servers, and storage and provide recommendations surrounding suitability for virtualization.
Virtual Infrastructure Design and Health Check - TeraMach will assess the servers and applications an organization wishes to virtualize and provides a detailed virtual infrastructure design using virtualization software that includes server sizing, cluster design, virtual server placement, availability requirements, scalability, storage design, and management.
Consolidated Backup - Most organizations are encountering challenges surrounding the backup of their virtual infrastructure. TeraMach has developed solutions provided by VMware, Symantec and IBM TSM, for organizations to consolidate the backup for VMware and other virtualized environments using proxy based and off-host back-ups approaches.
Desktop Virtualization While server virtualization has already proven itself for many organizations, the next big transition will be in desktop virtualization. Rather than deploying new desktops to deploy hardware hungry OS upgrades like Vista and Office 2007 and to greatly ease in desktop PC management - the next shift will be to desktop virtualization. TeraMach will work with your organization to design and implement a virtual desktop environment that meets your organizations needs. TeraMach is packaging together multi-vendor products to offer a best-of-breed hosted desktop solution and will combine the best of thin-client, hosted desktop and virtual machine technology together to satisfy your requirements.
Thin Provisioning This is part of storage virtualization and is a mechanism that applies to large-scale centralized computer disk storage systems, SANs, and storage virtualization systems. Thin provisioning allows space to be easily allocated to servers, on a just-enough and just-in-time basis. TeraMach delivers TP solutions provided by HDS, SUN, HP, and VMware to organizations that face the challenge of driving efficiency in IT infrastructure that is increasing in complexity, while budgets are reduced and demands on IT service levels increase. TeraMach aims to save customers money and maximize return on investments.
Host Partitioning Based on partitioning technologies such as SUN Containers, IBM LPar, HP NPar/VPar and Windows, TeraMach assists our customer to size servers and provision partitions for maximum performance and utilization.
TeraMach helped develop a storage virtualization strategy for a major federal government department with over 7,000 users. This strategy allows the department to establish external storage using a mix of HP EVA, IBM DS and HDS storage and offers tiered storage based on data availability requirements. In addition, this strategy enables the department to implement virtual infrastructure for production, test & development and QA to maximize the utilization of infrastructure with lowest capital cost.
TeraMach was contracted to develop a server consolidation and virtualization strategy. This strategy will allow a major federal government department to consolidate over 200 Microsoft Windows and UNIX servers using VMware and other server virtualization technologies. TeraMach lead a team of consultants to implement a tool to collect server hardware and performance information. Together with the application requirements (such as data availability, level of protection, performance and growth) collected through interviews, TeraMach carried out an analysis that combined all the information to determine the capacity, connectivity, performance/throughput, availability and reliability of the server infrastructure.
