Virtual Tape Solutions

Virtual tape solutions allow hosts to access logical tape drives that are independent of the physical storage devices containing the data written to them.

Tape virtualization addresses two major bottlenecks in disk-to-tape operations: writing data to tape; and restoring data from tape archives.

Virtualization at the tape device level provides the ability to have one logical tape presented to the host with any number or types of physical media on the back end. Data may be written to disk, or even multiple tape drives, to increase the throughput of written data.

Other features include the ability to configure tape drives for mirroring or array configurations, which provide protection from faulty tapes and support real-time off-site storage. In addition, sharing physical tapes between applications is possible, providing greater utilization of storage hardware.

TeraMach has implemented numerous virtual tape solutions at private and public sector organizations.  Contact us today to discuss your virtual tape requirements.
